Importing Outlook pst files through script

    Dear Scriptwizards,

I'm looking for some code that could help me in getting this job done; Import all pst files available in a shared folder, check if the pst files are not already imported.

I thought that when importing a pst file in outlook, a reference coulb be found in the windows registry, but it doesn't seem the do that. Otherwise if would have been easy to enumerate all pst files and just write them down to registry keys... but since it's not there, i don't have a clue where outlook stores this data and IF this data is editable...

thanks for any hint, tip or solution you might have.

    best regards

    dimitri

    Hi BRUDXA,

Are you asking about how to transfer the data from a PST file into an Exchange mailbox? Or, are you asking about how to add a PST file reference in Outlook? In either case, my guess is that you're asking about how to write a VBA macro in Outlook. In either case, I would probably start with the resources at outlookcode.com.

    Regards,

    Bill

Re: Importing Outlook pst files through script

    Hello Bill,

I'm asking on how to import pst files into an outlook profile. So, lets say you have 10 pst files stored in a networkfolder. If you run the script, these pst files will be opened/attached to your outlook profile the next time you open outlook. It should also check if a pst file has already been openend/imported or not (so there are no duplicates?). Its not about moving data between pst files or moving data to an exchange mailbox.

I'll have a look at the link you've told me.

    thanks already!

    Dimitri,

Go to http://www.dimastr.com/redemption/ and download Outlook Redemption. On this page, go to "Create, access and manipulate MAPI profiles and accounts (Profman library)" and click the Profman link. There is an example script there that looks like it will do what you want called "Create (or reuse) a profile and add a PST file if it is not already there". You can download a free copy for development or purchase a single $199 distributable license for as many copies as you like.

You could modify this script to iterate through a directory and attach multiple PSTs. Have fun and let me know if this works for you!
